Post 4: Thunderstorms

After watching the weather's news, the dark cloud coming and surrounding the atmosphere. When he looks at the sky, it is a very dark and scary cloud then It's starting thunderstorms and raining a lot. He found out that lightning strike down to communication towers, and it is completely blackout. There is no way to contact his phone or any devices at home. When he hears more thunders caused by a lightning strike, he begins to get scared and try to hide one of the rooms. He starts thinking like "Why would I scary of a thunderstorm?" He wants to face or conquer his fear of bad weather today. After the thunderstorm went away, all of the power sources coming back. He is delighted after it's over.

    I love how you decided to use setting to set the mood of your short story and describing in such a great way. I also enjoyed not being able to tell how old the main character is it leaves room for interpretation.

    Very powerful setting. The mood of the story fits perfectly with how scared the main character is feeling. It also shows how he tries to conquer his fear and the delightfulness he gets after its all over.

All she does was cleaning the house and take care of the children, but she was very bored at home doing nothing. In the 21st century, women had the same equal right as men. Both women and men can take care of children and cleaning the house as a family. Women get a job and go to college to get an education.

Post 5: Psychology of "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas"

 This story, "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas," takes place at the Festival of Summer in Omelas which people who are celebrating and be happy to dance around. They sacrificed an innocent child over partying and food. In the first paragraph, it said that "[c]hildren dodged in and out, their high calls rising like the swallows' crossing flights over the music and the singing" (Le Guin). The people of Omelas were to live in a utopia; they want to be happy people. I felt terrible for the children because it was untreated fair and disrespectful. Le Guin is critiquing about "[h]appiness is based on a just discrimination of what is necessary, what is neither necessary nor destructive, and what is destructive." In other words, it is saying that happiness predicated on simple discrimination of what's necessary, what's neither essential nor harmful, and what's harmful.
